Closer Working Relationships
Whilst we consider ourselves to be experts in our fields, we are nevertheless well aware that there are many providers of legal and business services. We pride ourselves not only on the quality of the service we provide, but in the manner in which we are able to provide it. To the fullest extent possible, each of our clients is serviced principally by the same two lawyers who, through the regularity of the contact, are able to provide more tailored, pragmatic advice than would otherwise be the case. This enables us to bridge the divide which sometimes exists between “them” and “us” and to become key members of our clients’ teams.
Central to our business model is the desire, where possible, to avoid hourly billing. We believe that the image of a “ticking clock” in the background, whereby even a five-minute phone call may have a cost implication, acts as a significant barrier to the provision of an effective service. By focusing on a small number of clients and seeking to provide each of them with in-depth service, this gives us scope to agree with our clients a fixed monthly fee in lieu of hourly billing. We then review this periodically with our clients and make agreed adjustments as appropriate.
We have found this gives our clients the security to allow many different members of their organisation to have regular contact with us without a nasty surprise when the bill arrives. This also gives us the ability to develop a much deeper understanding of our clients’ businesses by attending management and sales meetings and generally spending more time with the client’s personnel. We take pride in the longevity of many of our client relationships and the fact that we genuinely consider many of them to be friends.
